Louis Pretorius is a screenwriter, director and producer known for creating and writing for several Afrikaans theatre and television shows. He has penned and directed for some of the most acclaimed shows such as DIE BOEKKLUB (2016) which earned an award for Best Achievement in Scriptwriting at the 2017 SAFTAs, co-created FYNSKRIF (2018) which was recognized for Best Television Script at the WGSA Muse Awards in 2019, and he produced KOMPLEKS (2020) and FRAKSIE (2022). Louis has recently executive produced and created Netflix’s Afrikaans TV series TUISKOMS (2025) showcasing his multifaceted talent and authentic way of storytelling which debuted in Netflix’s Top 10 during its first opening weekend in March 2025. Through his Afrikaans plays and television series, Louis Pretorius’s work promotes and explores themes of diversity, enriching visibility on a national and international platform fostering exceptional storytelling that resonate with local audiences.
