Zoe Laband is an award-winning screenwriter and script editor.
A scholarship student, she graduated with an honours degree in directing and screenwriting (cum laude) from AFDA JHB. Zoe’s graduation film, the horror-comedy, PINKY PINKY won best film and best director and was screened on MNET and at many international film festivals.
In 2007 she won a Graduate Fellowship for Academic Distinction to attend York University in Toronto Canada, where she attained her Masters in Screenwriting (cum laude). In 2015 she began writing for television full time and since then has written hundreds of hours of television, screened on almost every channel in South Africa.
Zoë has extensive experience in the story room having been the A storyliner on a telenovella and a soap opera for over 5 years. She also has extensive experience working on limited series, having broken story and written scripts on over 15 local TV shows. These include THOSE WHO CAN’T a comedy series for which she won a SAFTA for best writer, and THE GIRL FROM ST AGNES a thriller commissioned by Showmax.
Recently, Zoe wrote six comedies and rom-coms, all of which have been green-lit by Netflix. Zoë loves writing comedies, thrillers, and family drama. A writer of original feature and series scripts, and a writer for hire, Zoe is also experienced in adapting books for the screen.
