Daniel Zimbler



Daniel Zimbler is a UK-based South African screenwriter and director with a Film MFA from Columbia University, New York. He co-wrote three seasons of the multi SAFTA-winning hit comedy series TALI’S WEDDING DIARY and the follow up TALI’S BABY DIARY and third season TALI’S JOBURG DIARY for Showmax, directing on and executive producing the second and third seasons. His SAFTA-nominated feature documentary GOLDBLATT played international festivals, headlining Paris Photo and Photo London. Among his television credits, Daniel was Head Writer on MNet’s popular telenovela ISITHEMBISO for two seasons, winning the SAFTA for TV writing in 2019. He wrote for forthcoming TV drama SPINNERS for producer Joachim Landau / Empreinte Digitale and Canal+ (currently in post, director Jaco Bouwer) and led development and wrote on the 8-part historical epic SHAKA ILEMBE for MNet (2022). He co-wrote comedy feature with co-writer/director/producer Ari Kruger for a streamer, currently in production and is writing a contemporary Joburg set comedy drama series for producer Kudi Maradzika set up at Netflix and another comedy feature set in a small fishing community also for the streamer.
